[Sunday] The Land of Holiness - Use The Gifts
This sermon could just as easily be titled YHWH I AM EGO EIMI. Today we are going to take a journey to the Land of Holiness. When we get there, we will still be here.. Yes, that is a paradox. No, we are not going to leave this sanctuary. This is a journey of the heart, of the soul. Once we know where holiness lives, it will come alive in us.

What Had happened at Grace this week.
When we treat time like a shrinking commodity, our families and neighbors can feel like frustrating interruptions. This week, we see how Jesus frees us to see those interruptions as gifts.
Bible study traced Mark 9:2–50 into Mark 10:1–52, emphasizing humility over status, protecting “little ones,” radical measures against sin, God’s design for marriage, childlike faith, the danger of wealth, servant greatness, and true spiritual vision.
The shoes you put on every day when you work or shop are actually a mask of God, they are the very way He walks into the world to provide for His creation.
What a great weekend. We welcomed in 12 new members at Grace Lutheran PSL. We Also celebrated Pastor Cris’ 10th anniversary at Grace.

When life falls apart, our first instinct is to try and fix it ourselves. But in the midst of our deepest exile, God speaks a better word: "I will."

We all have days we’ll never forget; when the phone rang, the diagnosis came, and everything fell apart. Jeremiah 25, points to a day of infamy just like this. But also in Gethsemane, Jesus steps right into the middle of our darkest moments to offer us a hope that nothing can uproot.

Christmas Boxes - Small Toys (card games, jump ropes, little cars, coloring books, hard candy)
Collecting hair ties, hair brushes, bar soap and Jesus figures
For the month of October, we are collecting small toys that will fit in the Christmas Boxes. For example, card games, jump ropes, little cars, coloring books (with no words) and hard candy.
Feel free to add anything else you think would be fun, but remember it has to fit in the box.
We are wanting to bless even more children in Hait this Christmas. We are doubling our goal to 400 gift boxes!
Let’s start early so we can meet this awesome goal.
Each month we will focus on a type of a gift, but feel free to bless the children with whatever gift will fit in a plastic shoebox. OR—each box costs about $25.00, so if you would like to donate money, we will use it to purchase items for you.
Amazon has many gift ideas and are more reasonable when you put the word “bulk” in the search line, such as “Soccer balls bulk”.
Here are the goals for the next 7 months:
May - Soccer balls
June - Baby dolls (8” or under), necklaces & bracelets
July - Backpacks
August - Pencil cases, toothbrushes, toothpaste
September - Bar soap, hairbrushes, double ball hair ties
October - Toys-card games, jump ropes, little cars, coloring books (without words), etc., hard candy
November - Anything goes that fits in the box!

[Sunday] Faith & Fear - Missio Dei Part 5
When anxiety hits, we usually tell ourselves “faith over fear.” but perhaps God is calling us to something deeper: faith with the fear of the Lord. See how the massive, awesome power of God is actually the perfect resting place for our fearful hearts.

When we read the flood story, it's so easy to focus on the destruction, but the true focus is the rainbow. 1 Peter chapter 3 shows us something amazing: God’s bow points us straight to the cross, the empty tomb, and the hope we have in deep waters.

[Sunday] Matthew 2 - Richer
Virtually every life transforming event recorded in Scripture includes a journey, a process the people involved go through that leads to insight, transformation and new life for all willing to engage that journey. The journey always includes elements of sacrifice, worship, trust and faith. Christmas is about Jesus making the journey from heaven to earth, for the Magi it was the journey from wisdom to humility. For us, it is a journey to wonder and new life.

Psalm 1 provides a blueprint for spiritual life, and helps us see how Jesus grew into His Messianic role. Psalm 2 broadens from individual growth to God's MESSIANIC PLAN for the world and takes in the entire sweep of history. This Sunday we are in an Advent state of mind. Next Sunday we celebrate Christmas in July through the eyes of the Magi.

Be strong and courageous" isn't God telling you to try harder. It's an invitation to rest in the victory He has already won.
"Be strong and courageous" isn't God telling you to try harder. It's an invitation to rest in the victory He has already won.
Questions for the Week: Joshua 1:9
In what areas of your life (parenting, career, relationships) do you feel the exhausting pressure that everything depends entirely on your performance?
Read Joshua 1:1-9: Joshua was facing an impossible, terrifying transition with the death of Moses and a flooded river ahead of him. Have you ever faced a life transition that felt impossible, and how did God's presence carry you through it?
It’s exhausting to constantly try to bend God's will to match what we want—whether in our jobs, marriages, or politics. Jesus did the exact opposite in the Garden of Gethsemane ("Not my will, but yours be done"). When is it hardest for you to stop fighting and trust God’s plan?
God gives Joshua the victory. How does it take the pressure off you to know that God doesn't need you to be a "perfect professional" to do His work in someone else's life?
